Within the scope of ICSE SCIENCE FACTORY, it has been truly encouraging to witness the strong public interest in our open schooling projects.
Our rainwater harvesting initiative enabled students to address a local environmental issue through scientific inquiry and a sustainability lens, while the Environmental Laboratory demonstrated how learning can extend beyond classroom walls—through hands-on, experiential, and inquiry-based practices. The impact and visibility of these initiatives were such that they were also featured on national television, reflecting their broader social relevance.
These experiences clearly show how school–university–civil society collaboration can foster scientific literacy and environmental awareness when grounded in real-life challenges. For us, open schooling is not merely a methodology; it is a way of positioning the community as an active partner in the learning process.
